In RL you use enginebrake and retarder as much as posible and only use the brakes to stop. And you try to avoid coming to a full stop, if possible you roll slowly towards a red light to not have to start from a standstill. #4. Ragequit Inc. Oct 28, 2014 @ 10:35am. Turn brake intesity all the way down, for one.

Euro Truck Simulator 2. You have probably set the "automatic retarder" just remove it in the options and you will be fine #14. Outlaw Trucker. Jan 16, 2018 @ 1
The thing is I've noticed in ETS2 when I increase the retarder it also engages the engine brake, and sometimes I only want the retarder to engage. Is this normal and expected behavior or am I doing something wrong? I've double checked the options: I have automatic retarder and engine brake both set to of, and my controls are also set correctly.
I can increase the retarder by 3 levels (if the gear box support it), I feel the effect and I see the stick moves inside the cabin. But I don't manage to see nor feel the effect of increasing engine brakes. I do manage to use the engine brake via holding the engine brake key, or via setting it to auto engine brake mode, But I don't manage to see the effect of increasing the engine brakes str
there is a setting for "automatic retarder" think its under the gameplay options tab. i am disabled and drive an automatic car IRL now with them when you come off the power the engine/gearbox both help to slow the car down so in normal driving circumstances you only need to use the footbrake to come to a complete stop.
retarder and autoretarder doesn't do nothing, no work, after latest 1.44.1.10 update. Automatic engine brake doesn't work as well. For example i cruise @ 60, lowering cruise to 50 the retarder does not kick in anymore.
the retarder is used to maintain the speed , more so if youre going down a hill . you would need to turn off auto ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or auto engine brake i forget exactly the name of it or regular use but when you turn on CC it will use that and the acelerator to maintain the set speed . The retarder also has multiple settings.

Let's compare with you got a 2t cargo and 24t cargo. When you're using 2t cargo, maybe around 1/3 to 1/4 intensity are more than enough; for 24t cargo job, you may have to slide the intensity
